Slap on the Wrist

The abuse was finally discovered when my mother took me to a park and asked me if my father had ever touched me inappropriately. I told her yes. She called a therapist who eventually notifed the Department of Human Services. Despite their findings of severe sexual abuse, my father was able to work out a deal with the Tulsa County District Attorney's office and avoid prosecution. His life would continue as normal.

I was never asked whether or not I was willing to testify. No one from the District Attorney's office ever interviewed me.

Untrue. Again, no one from the District Attorney's office interviewed me or asked me what I wanted to happen to him.
