“MyLife” is a program designed for teenage girls in Ottawa County. The program consists of a day long experience, outside of the school, where the young women are surrounded by support and encouragement from their community. The program is designed to increase the perception of community support and overall well being of the adolescents. The program utilizes relevant motivational speakers to strengthen the message and support the youth of Ottawa County.
I was honored to be a speaker and share my story. The response from the young ladies was more than I could have anticipated. Several teens opened up to me about the abuse in their own lives, and expressed relief at knowing they were not alone in their struggle. The Ottawa County Health Department deserves enormous credit in hosting such an event. I look forward to participating in the future!
